Let us be the first to welcome you to Ouray, the “Outdoor Recreation Capitol of Colorado.” Centrally located in Southwest Colorado, Ouray is the perfect basecamp for your explorations, offering a treasure trove of unique experiences all year long. Ouray is a high alpine community sitting at 7,800 feet in elevation. Set in a geographic bowl formed by rugged and steep mountainsides that lead up to jagged 12,000 to 13,000-foot-high peaks with several creeks cascading down through valleys and canyons into the city. Guests to our community come from all over the world to experience Ouray in its entirety. Whether that be soaking in the Ouray Hot Springs, hiking our trails, learning about the history of the Ute Indians and a miner's life, shopping on our unique Main Street, or seeing our 3 W's: wildlife, wildflowers, and waterfalls.

  • Box Canon Falls in the Fall

    Box Cañon Falls

    Ouray's own wonder of the world, is the culmination of Canyon Creek narrowing and spilling thousands of gallons a minute of water over the falls. At this most spectacular geological formation, the 285-foot waterfall plummets into a narrow quartzite canyon. The narrow rock walls tower over the falls by nearly 100 feet!

    Here, you will find many opportunities to soak in Ouray, Colorado by ways of hot springs. There are four properties that offer hot springs! What makes the hot springs so special? It makes the perfect setting for a romantic getaway. It is perfect for a family-friendly trip. It is has great health benefits.

  • Ouray County Historical Museum

    The Museum features mining, ranching and railroading, the three main means of employment in Ouray's early history. It houses many artifacts dating back to Ouray's earliest days which began in 1875. There are large displays of minerals and Indian artifacts in the building. Plan to visit this fascinating museum. You'll want to set aside a minimum of one hour for your visit. Many tourists and residents of Ouray spend several hours touring the Museum.

    This 5.8 mile trail is our most popular hike by far. With the option to enter/exit at multiple points allows hikers to do what they are comfortable with. You will observe two waterfalls, mountain scenes, two canyons, cross a high-bridge, and have fun! Did we mention this hike is dog-friendly?
