Morning
My favorite way to start a beautiful mountain day is with a walk along the Uncompahgre River Trail. This trail is perfect for dogs of all sizes and abilities, and it offers stunning views of the river and the surrounding mountains. I always remind my owner to pick up a poop bag at the beginning of the walk to keep this special place clean for all! Then I take a quick dog social hour at the Ouray Dog Park. This park is full of smells, textures and friends. I love to go for a quick shopping spree at Ouray Mountain Fever which allows well-behaved pups in the store while owners find a new hoodie or one-of-a-kind mug, and a new antler bone for me to chew on!! The easiest dog-friendly patio is the Goldbelt for your family to sit and all eat together. Another favorite in the summer time is the Ouray Brewery when the picnic tables are out and you can enjoy the time with everyone, pup included.

Afternoon
The Ouray Perimeter Trail is great for dogs. It’s a relatively easy hike with beautiful views. My hint: be sure to grab a free map at the Visitor’s Center before you go. Cell phone coverage is spotty and having an ‘old-school’ map is important when hiking around. Go to Twin Peaks Lodge and Hot Springs where humans can soak and dogs can sit on the pool deck. Check in with the front desk to see when I am hosting a meet-and-greet at Twin Peaks Lodge. Go to a waterfall! A favorite of mine is walking up to Cascade Falls. It is a spectacular view.

Evening
Have dinner at one of Ouray’s many dog-friendly restaurants. Head back to your hotel or vacation rental and relax with your furry friend. You’ve had a busy day, and you’re both ready for a good night’s sleep. No matter what you do, you’re sure to have a great time exploring Ouray with your human.
